From Keith Taylor of Cemex
Cemex received a complaint from a local resident regarding the noise from a reversing.
The broad band sound reversing alarm eliminated the noise nuisance and solved the problem. Mr Taylor said "Brigade Electronics were asked to visit Wick quarry after the manager at Cemex received a complaint from a local resident concerning the noise nuisance produced by a reversing tipper truck.
The problem was a tonal alarm which was omitting a loud bleep. The narrow band alarm was difficult to locate for people working within the immediate danger zone and the high pitched noise could be heard by residents living several miles away." The solution was to fit a broad band sound alarm (bbs-92) which is both directional and locatable, therefore safer for workers.
The broad band sound alarm is not a noise nuisance because the sound does not carry and is absorbed by the environment but is still sufficient enough to be heard above engine noise.
Mr Taylor said: “My response from Brigade was very good and Dave Williams from the company was quick to pencil in an appointment which he duly committed. Dave threw many ideas our way and to be fair I was under his knowledge and expertise in this matter, I had an issue and wanted advice.
Dave tried a couple of broad band alarms and found the second one he tried was going to be ideal for the area the yard tipper would be working and secondly it could not be heard from a distance. Since Dave’s visit, the complainer has not been in contact, so I hope the issue has now been eliminated.”
