Brigade Electronics have introduced a new low cost mobile video recording system for; trucks, buses, coaches and other commercial vehicles that will provide enhanced security and potentially save many thousands of pounds in fraudulent damage or insurance claims.

Recording real time from as many as 4 cameras, the Brigade MDR-304 captures up to 25 frames per second on all channels. It is a highly featured system including removable hard disc that can store images over a long time frame and can be played directly on a TV set or PC. It has a range of searchable options to enable the viewer to browse effectively.
According to a report by the International Road Transport Union, one in six truck drivers across Europe have been subjected to an attack and attacks on bus drivers are also on the increase. These alarming statistics highlight the necessity for security systems to be in place to protect drivers, passengers, vehicles and freight.
The MDR-304, used with the extensive range of Brigade internal and external camera systems, can aid the security of drivers and passengers. Four alarm inputs and two alarm outputs can be triggered in several ways including for example, doors opening or a help button being pressed. It has the ability to trigger the recording of 50 frames prior to the alarm being activated. Real time recording and playback ensures quality images and easy to locate frames.

A new crime wave in insurance scams masterminded by criminal gangs has cost insurers £200 million a year according to the Berkeley Burke (UK) Ltd insurance brokers, with commercial vehicles becoming the latest target and the Insurance Fraud Bureau found 22,000 induced accidents in the last six years. The MDR is ideal for false claim prevention with four camera outputs to record all events and scenes around or inside the vehicle.
Applications such as refuse collection have already used footage to prove vehicles did not cause damage to parked vehicles, contrary to claimant’s statements. This enables companies to save time and money in costly insurance claims, with many claimants dropping cases when they are shown the contrary evidence.
The MDR can record GPS information and show the exact location of a vehicle at any given time, which is invaluable in the case of road accidents. In addition the unit can interface with the vehicles systems to record certain events including when the indicators, brakes or handbrake are applied and when doors are opened or lights switched on. This stylish unit is portable and easy to extract, fitting neatly under the driver’s seat, for example. The hard disk device, which can accommodate up to 220 hours of recording, is resistant to extreme temperature, shock and vibration. Password protection ensures the unit is tamper proof.
The MDR incorporates all the safety features necessary for today’s commercial vehicle market, providing safety and assurance at little cost and maximum savings.
