Brigade Electronics BACKSCAN range of parking sensors are suitable for most vehicle types including cars, vans, trucks, buses, coaches, mobile plant and refuse vehicles. Using proven ultrasonic technology BACKSCAN parking sensors inform the driver of the distance between the vehicle and any obstacle at the rear. As soon as the reverse gear is engaged. The parking sensors start scanning the rear of the vehicle and gives a 3 stage audible and visual warning to the driver. Brigade's parking sensors incorporate dynamic scanning memory (DSM) that prevents false alarms from tow bars, rear mounted tyres and any auxiliary equipment that intrudes in the parking sensors detections zone.

Brake congratulates Brigade Electronics on its well-deserved Fleet Safety Forum Award

Mobileye Wins Fleet Safety Product Award.

Brigade’s Mobileye, collision avoidance system, has won the prestigious fleet safety product award in the driver safety category at this years Brake annual awards ceremony.

Mobileye AWS-4000 is an advance warning system for long distance drivers. The system is unique in providing three warnings - Lane Departure Warning (LDW) Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Headway Monitoring Warning (HMW) in one compact unit. It is based on a singular monocular camera, which makes it easy to fit and highly cost effective. Mobileye is a driving aide which can alert drowsy or inattentive drivers for the need to take a break. The technology can also re-train a driver's way of thinking in terms of safety and best practice, improve driver response times and alter behaviour to prevent practises such as tailgating.
The judges were impressed by Mobileye’s performance statistics – it alerts the driver up to 2.7 seconds before a collision, prompting them to take avoiding action. Research shows that the technology used by Mobileye can help to significantly reduce forward collisions, tailgating collisions and side-swiping.

Cathy Keeler, deputy chief executive of Brake, said: “Brake congratulates Brigade Electronics on its well-deserved Fleet Safety Forum Award. It’s great to be able to recognise companies that are helping to driving down crash and casualty rates through their dedication to developing new technologies to help drivers keep safe on the road. Brigade’s constant drive to improve and extend the range of products it offers makes it a worthy winner of this award.”

Brigade has been working hard to find solutions to combat the problem of vehicle collision due to side swiping and driver inattention. Mobileye is an example of innovative technology that can prevent such collisions, reminding drivers to signal before they manoeuvre and raising awareness of safe vehicle distances on the road. The technology exemplifies Brigade's philosophy that preventative solutions can help operators of commercial vehicles prevent accidents, save money and more importantly, lives.

Brigade received further commendation from Brake for the Dobli® mirror which meets the requirements of the latest European directive (2007/38/EC) due to be enforced in March next year. The Dobli® mirror eliminates the blind spot to the nearside of a truck, one of the biggest causes of collisions in Europe, especially when the vehicle is turning. Pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists are particularly vulnerable road users who need to be protected with blind spot solutions.

Brigade's Dobli mirrors are a simple solution that for the first time, provide a full view of all the blind spot requirements set out in the European directive and a field of vision beyond current requirements. The mirrors are easily adjustable and provide a low cost but effective way of increasing a driver’s vision and increasing driver and pedestrian safety when the vehicle is changing direction. The Dobli mirror is a ready made solution, easily fitted, unlike the alternative of replacing existing mirrors, which is a time consuming and costly practise. The Dobli mirror fits to the front of the truck and can be viewed through the windscreen.
The award ceremony highlighted Brigade’s continued efforts to provide the commercial vehicle market with the highest standards of driver and vehicle safety.
